Paniponi Dash, Vol. 5: Delinquent Genius

Extremely silly
Rebecca has started her new job teaching high school. She's an 11 year old genius. This makes it hard for her to relate to her students, whom all have major personality quirks. Their day to day life is filled with dopiness and insanity.

This show is like Azumanga Daioh on crack. The best things about this anime are the animation and comedy. It's extremely strange, so don't try to understand it. Just get past the first 5 episodes and enjoy all of the goofiness that comes. If you can get a close up picture of the cover; then you can get a get a good idea of how Paniponi is drawn. The color shading and character designs are very unique and cool. There are also some pretty good voice talents in this one. It's not one of the better animes I've seen, but it's definitely funny and good mindless entertainment.

Disney's Little Einsteins - Rocket's Firebird Rescue

One of the best Little Einsteins
This is one of the best Little Einsteins DVDs yet for exposing kids to classical music. Twice as long as a regular television program, its 51-minute main feature, "Rocket's Firebird Rescue," will really make children familiar with Igor Stravinsky's "The Firebird."

Just about the perfect length for many youngsters' attention spans, the program tells the tale of the Firebird, a mythical crane that spreads music throughout Russia until a mean, magical ogre traps it. It also introduces kids to the painting "Improvisation" by Wassily Kandinsky, the amazing eggs of Carl Faberge, Russian nesting dolls, even St. Basil's Cathedral and the Baikal freshwater seal.

It's even better if you view it with a home theater set-up, as the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack includes the kids' "Rocket" flying machine zooming around you as it travels.

The DVD also contains a regular episode of the Little Einsteins television series, 2007's "Rocket Soup," in which the kids fill up...

Engaging and fun!
"Rocket's Firebird Rescue" is a new full length adventure starring Disney's Little Einsteins. The film runs 51 minutes, with an additional bonus episode titled, "Rocket Soup". I'll admit that initially I was a bit put off by the "Little Einsteins" moniker. I don't like the implication that parents have to plunk their little darlings in front of a box in order to stimulate their minds. There are many products sold to insecure parents who want to give their child every advantage, all seem to have titles that include the names of famous thinkers, composers, or artists, or else words such as "brainy", "smarter", or "better". Though I'm not enamored of the show's name, "Little Einsteins" is quite fun and engaging.

There are four kids on the Little Einsteins team, each with a special talent. The kids are between four and six years old. Leo is the leader of the group and his special skill is conducting. Quincy plays a variety of musical instruments. June is a dancer, and...

Good, but too much padding
My 2-year-old son is a huge fan of Little Einsteins, or, as he calls them, the "Steins!" He loves this movie and we let him watch it on rare occassions where we need to keep him occupied for a full hour. My son loves the movie and dances, sings and does everything else along with the movie, so clearly it engages him. I am sure he would give it five stars.

From the parent perspective, though, it seems like they made an hour long episode by repeating things seven times instead of three times. And each Little Einstein gets to show off his or her unique talent, instead of focusing on one person like they do on a TV episode. As a result, it feels like an overlong TV episode. Of course, the TV episodes are great, so this is not really a criticism other than to say that if you watch it with your child, you will likely get a little bored and start wishing they would move the story along. Like I said, the repitition does not bother my son, the intended audience, one bit...

The Treasure of Painted Forest

MICHAEL STANTON MOVIE
There is a general rule of thumb that holds true for kids' movies as well as adult. Whenever the writer, producer, and actor are all the same person, the movie should be avoided. I hate to talk down a kids' movie as kids will love any kids movie and adults can only stomach the best of them. I over rated this movie at 3 stars. The child acting was far better than the adult acting. The worse character was the blind store clerk with Yosemite Sam hair. From that over cartoonish character I would judge the age of a child that would enjoy this film to be from 5 to 8, although the deadbeat dad scene may have been a little to intense for children that age.

Two groups of kids (including one with a Tomboy) battle each other with paint balls for the use of the forest owned by a wise Native American who attempts to impart some tree hugging knowledge into the kids in one scene. There is also 2 bumbling thieves who have rented a trailer from the Native American. The kids break into the...

Fun with a Good Message
This is a fun, entertaining movie with a great message about getting along others and taking care of our planet. The story moves along nicely with lots of twists and turns. It is family friendly and enjoyable for kids and adults. The two bad guys have a great chemistry between them as they try to find the buried gold treasure, and the kids in the movie are very convincing as being friends. Great acting by veteran actors William Sanderson (Blade Runner, Deadwood), Dennis Haskins (Saved by the Bell), Nick Ramus (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman), Michael Stanton (Budweiser "Ladies Night" commercials) and a cast of convincing new, young actors. Beautiful cinematography also makes the film fun to watch. It has a very unique look. This movie is worth checking out.

Tracks

A Young Person Navigates the Corrections System
TRACKS, a film based on a true story, tells the story of Peter Madigan (Chris Gunn), who along with some of his friends, pulls a switch on a railroad track as a prank. The prank causes a derailment which results in the death of the engineer, and Peter ends up in prison for manslaughter. He has to learn to fend for himself, accept what he has done, and come to terms with his painful past. In general everything is against Peter, except a prison guard, Officer Brian Park (Ice T). Park is trying to improve himself, taking classes for law enforcement and psychology, and reaches out to Peter and becomes the catalyst for change.

Overall the story is interesting at its core, but the film does have some drawbacks. Most of the characters are rather one dimensional and predictable, especially in the jail: tough gangster, psychopathic killer, junkie, odd flamboyant man, corrupt guards, etc. and the prison scenes rely on stereotypes of incarceration. Also Peter's transformation come a...

Looking for the soundtrack to the Tracks
I love this movie, but I can't find the soundtrack. I love the song that Ice t raps at the end. Does anyone know it or where can I get it.

Tremendous! I can't see this movie enough!
I loved this film, and especially Michael Wolff. He is hilarious and I have to have every movie he is in, if it is this good.

Redline

best race movie yet!
I loved this movie from start to finish and have watched it numerous times. other race movies promise the fast cars and great race scenes and they fizzle. this movie brings it full force. The acting may not be the best, but a small price to pay to see a beautiful female racer and several high-end cars. I have not been able to find this movie for sale anywhere, so when I found it on amazon I snatched it up.

Redline
A gorgeous young automobile fanatic--and front to the hottest unsigned band on the West coast--finds herself caught up in illegal drag-racing competitions organized for the pleasure of a bunch of bored billionaires. A great movie for people are who into Cars and girls. This is captivating for the younger, out going audience so I wouldn't expect any book club members to undersatnd the action.

Love the cars but ......
Love the cars but not this movie. Even Vin Diesel would not star in this one. Just because you got fast cars, sexy women and music does not complete the formula for a good movie. RENT it, don't buy. Give it as a gift to your stoned friends.

The Littles: Here Comes the Littles

The prequel to the Littles
"Here Come the Littles" is actually the first full-length version (it runs around 72 mins) which explains how the Littles, i.e. Tom, Lucy, Cousin Dinky, Grandpa Little, etc come into the life of Henry, the young boy who is forced to live with his evil Uncle Augustus. Augustus has been appointed Henry's guardian (or so he claims) whilst Henry's parents are lost somewhere in Africa. The Littles (who look human but have elf-like ears and mouse-like tails) happen to live in the crevices of the house. This full-length feature is actually the first story about the Littles and explores how Henry and the Littles become friends and how the Littles help Henry put an end to Augustus' machinations.

I recently purchased The Littles - The Complete Series but buyers need to be aware that "Here Come the Littles" is not included on the set. The set comprises the other episodes (which only run about 20 mins per episode)...

Here comes the littles
Before the television series there was the theatre release to the Littles that started the series off. Based on the beloved children book series about little people with tails living in the walls of people's houses. If you ever wondered how Henrey Bigg became friends with Tom and Lucy this movie explains it all. How they teamed up the save their home from being bull dozed to the ground while Henrey parents are missing half way across the world.

Littles are cute.
Ever since I was a kid, I watched The Littles and had a feeling my children would love them just as much. This movies is great for children 3 and up, I'm hoping to find an awesome deal for the complete series.
